Hopkins County students in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to participate in an Essay Contest and Visual Arts Contest organized as part of Hopkins County’s 36th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.

CTC Hosts Adult Guitar Building Class

Hopkins County Career and Technology Center will host a guitar building class for adults in the manufacturing department this fall. The class is an opportunity for adults to build their own electric guitar, while supporting future STEM Guitar students in our high schools.

District Tops State Average in Reading, Math Proficiency

Hopkins County Schools’ students topped the state average in proficiency in the key areas of reading and math at every level, under state assessment results released by the Kentucky Department of Education on Sept. 26. Graduation rates are additional cause for celebration. Kentucky is transitioning to a new accountability model.

Academy moves to the CTC

Hopkins County Schools Academy students will report to a new location when school starts this week. The Academy is moving to an open area at the Career and Technology Center.

Jones Named Director of Facilities

George Jones has been selected as Director of Facilities for Hopkins County Schools. He has worked for the district for the past six years, most recently as maintenance manager.

In partnership with Madisonville Community College, Hopkins County Schools will be offering an opportunity for students entering the 12th grade at Hopkins County Central High School or Madisonville North Hopkins High School to begin their college experience while still enrolled in high school.

Board Seeking Proposals to Purchase 3233 Grapevine Road Property

The Hopkins County Board of Education is seeking proposals to purchase surplus property. Bid proposal packages to purchase 3233 Grapevine Road property and structure are available weekdays at the Central Office, 320 S. Seminary, Madisonville.

Belcher Named Director of Assessment

Andy Belcher has been selected as Director of Assessment for Hopkins County Schools. He has served as an administrator in the district for 17 years, most recently as guidance counselor at James Madison Middle School.

Zimmer Selected as District Teacher Consultant

Michael Zimmer has been named district teacher consultant for Hopkins County Schools. Zimmer, who has a 15-year career in education, has been curriculum coordinator at Madisonville North Hopkins High School for the past six years.

Bauer Named Grapevine Principal

Steven Bauer, a former teacher at Grapevine Elementary, has been selected to return to the school as principal.
