My name is Sarah Sowders, and this is my ninth year teaching at Hopkins County Central. I have been teaching English II for six years and AP for three. I am very excited to take this journey with you and your child. I am a native of Hopkins County, born and raised in Nortonville. I love coming to work at HCCHS every day and working with the children in this community to cultivate positive relationships, teaching them to understand (and maybe even enjoy) literature and writing.
I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Allied Language Arts and from the University of the Cumberlands in 2015 with a Masters of Arts in Teacher Leadership. I completed my Rank I as an Educational Specialist with principal certification at UC in December of 2017.
I am an avid sports fan. I spent the first five years of my career at HCCHS as an assistant on the girls’ basketball team. While I have stepped away from coaching to further my education and start a family, I still love the game. I am a passionate Kentucky Wildcats fan and I root for the Dallas Cowboys on the gridiron. I love spending time with my family, being active in my church, and writing. I currently reside in Nortonville with my wonderful husband, Gary, baby boy, Calvin and our chocolate lab, Hannah. We are truly a blessed family.
