Lauren Oldham, an instructional assistant at Pride Elementary, received the Remember Your Why Award during the Board of Education meeting on Monday. She was monitoring the students during lunch on a recent day, when one student began choking. She sprang into action, assessed the situation, helped the student stand up, and then performed the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge food from his airway. She saved this student’s life! Even during her daily responsibilities, Mrs. Lauren is considered “an absolute treasure to have on staff.” She is always willing to help anyone with any task! Pride Elementary is blessed to have her as part of the Falcon family.
When asked her “why,” Oldham said, “My why is because not all kids get to go to a great home life, so while they are at school, I want them to feel safe and loved.”

Sarah Todd, a CIA in the autism classroom at Hanson Elementary School, was presented with the Remember Your Why Award at the Feb. 20 Board of Education meeting. Ms. Sarah goes above and beyond to help her students. She greets her students getting off the bus in the morning, prepares the daily schedule, and works with students outside of the regular classroom setting. She shows up everyday with a smile on her face and loves her students! You can always find Ms. Sarah sharing a hug or working with our Hanson Hunters!
Todd said that her “why” is “to see my kids learn and grow.”

Madisonville North Hopkins High School student Blaine Luckett was presented with the Remember Your Why Award at the Jan. 29 Board of Education meeting. Blaine has demonstrated amazing leadership skills throughout his time at the school, setting an example of hard work and kindness to others. As a member of the MNHHS JROTC, he encourages and builds up other cadets in the program. He recently took the initiative to help a man who had fallen when leaving school. While there were other students around, Blaine dropped all his belongings to check on this man. He helped him to his feet and into a vehicle that was picking him up. Blaine always puts others first!
Blaine explained his “why,” by saying, “I choose to put others first and show kindness because you never know what they are going through in their life.”
