Christian Klaas, an assistant principal at Madisonville North Hopkins High School, has been named director of secondary instruction for Hopkins County Schools.
“I am extremely excited and thankful for the opportunity to serve in this new role,” Klaas said. “I am looking forward to working with all the schools and teachers in Hopkins County, as well as being a part of the district’s leadership team. I cannot wait to get started.”
He earned a bachelor’s degree in social studies/secondary education 8-12, master’s degree in teacher leadership/endorsement in educational technology, and Rank 1 in school administration/principal’s cohort program, all from Murray State University.
He has been assistant principal for the past two years. He previously taught and coached at MNHHS and Dawson Springs Junior/Senior High School. His professional experience also includes serving on the Commissioner of Education’s Assessment Work Group.
“Christian Klaas has worn many hats in his service to Hopkins County Schools,” said Superintendent Deanna Ashby. “As a current assistant principal, SBDM member, assistant basketball and golf coach, social studies department chair, and most importantly, teacher, he is well-prepared for this new role. We are excited he will be able to share his knowledge and experiences with middle and high school leadership teams.”
