'Coverings for Kids' Donations Accepted

Hopkins County Schools is participating in the Coverings for Kids program, which helps Kentuckians donate Drop box with Coverings for Kids sign next to pot of flowers facial coverings directly to local school districts.

A drop box for the masks is set up outside the front door employee entrance at the Central Office.

“We are excited to participate in this wonderful program,” said Director of Pupil Personnel April Devine. “We welcome homemade or store-bought face masks. They can be cloth or disposable.” Anyone who would like to make a monetary donation may also place that in an envelope and put it in the drop box.

The Coverings for Kids program was announced by Kentucky First Lady Britainy Beshear. Facial coverings are proven to help reduce the spread of the coronavirus and are critical to reopening schools safely, and keeping children, educators, and families safe, Beshear said.

Donations will be distributed through the Family Resource Youth Service Centers to children who need extra coverings, knowing that students may lose or break their masks or get them dirty throughout the school day. Both child- and adult-size facial coverings are accepted. There are links to tutorials and patterns that include both child and adult sizes on the Coverings for Kids webpage,
