Kelcey Postlewait has been selected as the new Grapevine Elementary School principal.
She most recently served as curriculum coordinator at James Madison Middle School.
Postlewait has been an educator with Hopkins County Schools for the past decade. She previously taught at Southside Elementary and West Hopkins School.
“I am extremely honored to join the Grapevine family,” she said. “I want to thank the SBDM and Dr. Ashby for the opportunity to work alongside such a great staff. I would also like to thank my James Madison family for the valuable skills I have learned while working under great leadership.
“I am so excited to meet and work with the Grapevine staff, students, families, and community members,” she said. “I have a passion for education, and love seeing all students experience success in social and academic growth. I have a strong commitment to helping students achieve success, and understand the importance of supporting teachers and appreciating their work.”
Postlewait earned an associate degree in mathematics from Madisonville Community College; a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in education with a major in reading and writing, both from Murray State University; and a Rank I in education from University of the Cumberlands.
Superintendent Dr. Deanna Ashby said Postlewait talked during her interview about the importance of fun and family.
“Mrs. Postlewait wants Grapevine Elementary to be a place where students and staff want to be,” Ashby said. “She wants our students to feel loved and enjoy learning. She truly has not forgotten what it is like to be a classroom teacher and the struggles teachers face. As a leader, you will find her seeking their opinion and working alongside the staff in the classroom. She is going to be a great addition to the Wildcat family!”
