Most recently, he has served as curriculum coordinator at James Madison Middle School, where he also coached basketball. He was previously a teacher at Pride Elementary School and Grapevine. He had also worked as school age coordinator and summer camp director for the Hopkins County Family YMCA.

“Words cannot begin to describe how excited I am to be coming home to Grapevine Elementary,” Bauer said. “I began my career in education here in 2007 and spent five wonderful years getting to know the students and faculty. This school holds a very special place in my heart, and I cannot wait to continue down the path of excellence that has been paved by Mrs. Elkins and her team of dedicated educators.

“Leading a school is a great responsibility, and one I do not take lightly,” he said. “I commit to earning the trust of each student, teacher and parent by leading with faith, integrity and a passion for the growth of each person who enters the doors of Grapevine Elementary.”

Bauer earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in teacher leadership, both from Murray State University, and an education specialist degree in educational leadership from University of the Cumberlands.

Grapevine’s Site-Based Council voted unanimously for Bauer, said Superintendent Deanna Ashby.

“When asked ‘Why do you want to be a Grapevine Wildcat?’ everyone was very impressed that he said he would love to come home,” Ashby said. “He believes in the school and its atmosphere of love and respect. We are looking forward to great things to come.”

Bauer succeeds Ann Elkins, who was named Hopkins County Schools’ Director of Human Resources.
