George Jones has been selected as Director of Facilities for Hopkins County Schools.
Jones, a Hopkins County native, has worked for the district for the past six years. He started as assistant maintenance manager for the district, and then in less than a year, he became maintenance manager.
“I’m looking forward to helping the children of Hopkins County,” he said. “I want to make sure their facilities are in the best shape possible.”
Jones previously owned his own excavating/contracting business and worked as a surface miner at Andalex Resources. He also worked for the Badgetts in the mining industry and drilling oil wells.
“George Jones is one of the most knowledgeable people I’ve worked with regarding buildings and grounds,” said Superintendent Deanna Ashby. “He comes early and stays late to make sure that our facilities are ready for our kids. From lighting to heating/cooling and overall maintenance, he keeps the buildings open and in good working condition.”
