The Kentucky Department of Education, in consultation with the Kentucky Department for Public Health, has updated the Healthy at School guidance based on the latest information from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Temperature screening expectations have been changed to state that only symptomatic students need to be screened for fever. These criteria will also be in place for staff.
Following this guidance, beginning Friday, April 2, routine temperature screenings will not be conducted prior to school or bus entry. Students who exhibit symptoms of illness while at school will have their temperature taken as part of a physical assessment completed by school staff. Parents are asked to continue monitoring students for symptoms prior to sending them to school.
