America's Healthiest Schools

Eleven schools in Hopkins County are among 781 nationwide named as America’s Healthiest Schools for the 2022-2023 school year! Alliance for a Healthier Generation recognizes schools for implementing best practices in up to nine areas. HCS schools that were recognized include the following:

Browning Springs Middle School – Implementing Local School Wellness Policy

Hanson Elementary School – Bolstering Physical Education & Activity

Hopkins County Central High School – Supporting School Health Services, Cultivating Staff Well-Being, and Increasing Family & Community Engagement

James Madison Middle School – Implementing Local School Wellness Policy and Bolstering Physical Education & Activity

Jesse Stuart Elementary School – Bolstering Physical Education & Activity

Madisonville North Hopkins High School – Enriching Health Education

Pride Elementary School – Supporting School Health Services, Implementing Local School Wellness Policy, Improving Nutrition & Food Access, Bolstering Physical Education & Activity, and Increasing Family & Community Engagement

South Hopkins Middle School – Supporting School Health Services, Cultivating Staff Well-Being, and Increasing Family & Community Engagement

Southside Elementary School – Bolstering Physical Education & Activity

West Hopkins School – Increasing Family & Community Engagement

Healthier Generation’s signature recognition program honors schools’ extraordinary efforts to advance the cycle of achievement in whole child health equity for students, staff, and families while grappling with pandemic-related learning loss, high rates of vaping and nicotine addiction, a youth mental health crisis, and other challenges. As honorees of the recognition program, schools reinforce their central role as powerful agents of impact and change for their community at-large. 

Supported by Harmony SEL at National University, Kaiser Permanente, and Kohl’s, this recognition honors schools for their achievements in advancing the physical, mental, and social-emotional health of students, staff, and families.
