The Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) installed Dr. April Devine, director of pupil personnel of Hopkins County
Schools, as its vice president. She was installed during the association’s annual meeting earlier this year.
Devine was selected by the association’s nominating committee that facilitates a competitive process to ensure a qualified and dedicated school leader is put forward in the election process to represent the 3,400 members who belong to KASA.
“Dr. Devine’s installation as vice president is essential to our ongoing commitment to sustain the education profession in Kentucky,” said KASA Executive Director Dr. Rhonda Caldwell. “She is a visionary leader who will help propel us forward to ensure every classroom in Kentucky is led by a high-quality teacher.”
As vice president, Devine will work with the officer team to oversee the continued implementation and monitoring of KASA’s strategic plan which includes the work of the Coalition to Sustain the Education Profession, carrying out key legislative priorities for the 2024 General Assembly, and guiding new leadership development programs for principals that are aimed to recruit and prepare aspiring principals for the role of the principal and expand support and development opportunities for assistant principals.

An accomplished leader, Devine has contributed to KASA and its members since 2012. She has served as chair of the Leading Innovative Learning Task Force and is a member of the Kentucky Women in Education Leadership. She is the sixteenth woman to serve as vice president in KASA’s history of officers since 1969.
Devine is the Director of Pupil Personnel for Hopkins County Schools. She earned her undergraduate and master’s degree from Murray State University and her doctorate in education from Oakland City University. She lives in Madisonville with husband Troy and son Adam. She also has an adult stepdaughter, Olivia, who resides in Evansville.
KASA is the largest school administrator group in Kentucky representing more than 3,300 education leaders from across the commonwealth. Formed in 1969, KASA connects education leaders to policymakers, legislators, and other interest groups, and provides numerous benefits to Kentucky’s school administrators.
