KSIS Data Standards
This page is intended to help school districts with the data standardization process and data clean-up in the Kentucky Student Information System (KSIS)/Infinite Campus (IC).
As the KDE responds to various reporting requirements and longitudinal data is shared between systems it is important to ensure data is entered consistently statewide. Specific data elements must be collected to ensure that accurate information is available for federal reporting, state reporting and other data sharing. Data Standards document requirements for data entry in the KSIS.
Data standardization is the process of making all data of the same type or class conform to an established convention or procedure to ensure consistency and comparability across different databases. This is especially important and necessary in a data warehouse environment that contains information from many sources. Without data standardization, no relationship can be established between the various data sources to produce reports that include information from multiple data sets within the data warehouse.
