Board of Education Statement
The following statement was issued by Hopkins County Board of Education following a special called meeting on Saturday morning:
The Hopkins County Board of Education is in full support of the measures taken to close our schools through March 27. This decision was made following the request from Governor Beshear. We also support the governor’s recommendation, which was made in hopes of slowing the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We recognize that we are in unknown territory and appreciate the coordination between the school superintendent, school personnel, the community, and state government. We commend school staff for the tremendous work that they do and will be continuing to do during upcoming weeks. The intent of the closure is to create social distancing – encouraging people to stay home and limit interactions with others. Please follow the CDC guidance on this ever-changing situation. We are depending on the cooperation and flexibility of the community as we move forward.
